"Ainadamar"

Assemblage of Acrylic, wood and photograph

“Inspired by Osvaldo Golijov’s opera ‘Ainadamar’, it concerns the shadow cast by the poet Frederico Garcia Lorca on the life of his friend, actress Margarita Xirgu. Lorca was executed by Fascist soldiers in the Spanish Civil War, in a place called Ainadamar, or Fountain of Tears in Moorish. In the background, a photo of a painting by Francisco Goya of Spanish patriots assassinated by French invaders, painted one hundred years earlier, supposedly in the same place.”

“Eve Creating Herself in Her Own Image”

She has issues with the idea of the almighty just creating her from Adam’s rib, and to assist him!

So she’s knitting herself, and it’s going to be a long and arduous job; that’s why it is unfinished! Women have to work hard to achieve recognition and equality.

“Quarantini Time”

She is reclining on a chaise lounge nursing a “quarantini”. My grandmother taught me to knit – gloves with fingers and socks. So I figured I could knit a whole woman’s body.
