CUCEA
Council of University of California Emeriti Associations
The Council of University of California Emeriti Associations (CUCEA), a consortium of the Emeriti Associations of ten University of California campuses was founded in 1987. The Council operates on an academic year basis, meeting twice a year in October and April, generally alternating the place of meeting between a northern and a southern campus. However, during COVID restrictions, meetings were necessarily remote via Zoom. Acting statewide on behalf of the welfare and status of UC emeriti, it presses for the protection, improvement and extension of a broad spectrum of benefits, such as good and affordable health care options, appropriate cost-of-living adjustments, and enhanced academic privileges.
The Joint Benefits Committee (JBC) is an integral part of CUCEA. The JBC was established in late 1994, shortly after the beginning of CUCRA (Council of University of California Retiree Associations) in 1993, to provide a joint effort with CUCEA in identifying, preserving, and enhancing benefits for annuitants.
The Fall, October 24-25, 2023 meeting was held in a hybrid fashion (in-person and on Zoom) at UC Davis.
The Spring 2024 CUCEA meeting will be hosted by UC San Diego on April 24-25, 2024.
